Engaging parents as partners (parent and community participation):

Just as in most African countries, the tradition of importance of a family to development of a child has always thrived in Uganda. KCH empowers parents and community members to support the rehabilitation of CWDs. We realize that holistic community participation brings positive change to the lives of CWDs. At KCH, we also encourage parents of CWDs to form Parents Learning Committees (PLCs) where they share information and knowledge hence managing to cope about childhood disability

Besides empowering parents and communities, we also emphasize on building the capacities of local health professionals to increase on their ability in providing rehabilitative care to CWDs at the local health centers.
