Donations | Volunteer/Internship Program

Make a Donation
Most of the activities carried out by Katalemwa Cheshire Home are entirely supported by grants and donations. We are constantly trying to increase the support so that we can help more disabled children to achieve their potential and lead fulfilling lives.

You can give donations in kind for example by committing yourself to giving one-off or regular goods or services such as foodstuff, fuel, beddings, medicine, vehicle servicing, internet access and workshop raw materials.
The home faces many financial challenges including fuel, staff remunerations, and materials for the workshop such as foam, metal and thermoplastic.

Material contributions can be brought to the Home

The vehicle will ensure that the visits are made by a well equipped team as well as enable the transportation of bulky appliances such as wheelchairs and standing frames.

Volunteer/Internship Program

The home offers a conducive environment for students in various fields to carry out

Internships, volunteer work and placements supervised by its experienced professional staff. It also provides a rich research environment in pediatrics and social work. Students from within and around the world come to the home notably UK and Germany .

Registration with relevant professional body is usually required and these can be consulted online.

The home receives volunteers from all over the world in its different departments who share new ideas and expertise. Various international volunteer placement organisations work with the home in the exercise but the home also receives and processes enquiries and applications directly. The home has a guest house on the compound in which volunteers can be hosted upon arrangement.

Length of placement varies and is dependent on the visa. Contact the immigration office for further information online.

The volunteers cater for all the expenses that they incur during their stay in KCH like accommodation among others.

The volunteers KCH gets include; Social Workers, Medical Personnel, Counselors, Teachers among others. This has greatly benefited the Home since the volunteers get to remain in touch with the Home and also find a way of helping the needy disabled children they identify in KCH. Some of the volunteers send donations for the children, sponsorship for the education of clients which has improved on the lives of some individual CWDs.

CASE STORY: This playground is now under construction due to funds donated by a volunteer.
